Vehicle finance

Vehicle Finance

Cars, utes, vans and trucks are all assessed differently, so the useful first question is what you are buying rather than how much you want to borrow. Dynamic Finance arranges the lending, and we will tell you plainly what it costs before you commit.

Vehicle Finance with Dynamic Finance

We are not tied to any dealership or manufacturer, so there is no sales target sitting behind the advice. One application goes across a panel of lenders, whether you are buying new, used, privately or at auction.

Ask us for numbers before you start negotiating rather than after. It does not affect your credit score to find out, and all lending is subject to lender assessment and approval.

Getting the term right

The term matters more than most people expect. A longer one lowers the repayment and raises the total interest, and the right answer depends on how long you intend to keep the vehicle rather than on what looks affordable this month.

We will show you a few terms side by side rather than only the one with the smallest monthly figure. If you are trading something in, tell us what is still owing on it - rolling negative equity into a new loan is common and worth understanding clearly before you agree to it.

Can I get a car loan if I am self-employed?

Yes. Self-employment is normal in New Zealand and several lenders on our panel assess it properly rather than treating it as a problem. If you do not have a full set of year-end accounts, say so early - some lenders work from bank statements and contract income instead, and we would rather send your application to those than to one that was never going to say yes. All lending is subject to lender assessment and approval.

Does applying affect my credit score?

Asking us for numbers does not. We can tell you what a loan would cost and over what term without touching your credit file. A formal application is different, which is why we would rather establish that something is likely to work before we submit it anywhere.

Can I pay the loan off early?

Usually yes, though whether there is a cost depends on the lender and the contract. Some charge an early repayment fee, others do not. It is worth asking before you sign rather than after, and we will tell you which lenders on the panel are more flexible about it.

Why not the dealer’s finance?

The finance desk at a dealership works for the dealership. That is not a criticism, it is just who employs them.
