Southpac Finance
If your business trades in the South Pacific - specifically the New Zealand part of it - we can help. The rest of the Pacific we cannot, which does take some of the grandeur out of the name. Heavy trucks and fleets, on the other hand, we are genuinely good at.
- Same-day approvals available
- FMA-licensed adviser (FSP1008126)
- 100% New Zealand owned
About the name, and then the actual point
Our lending footprint is New Zealand. Not Australia, not Fiji, not the wider Pacific - New Zealand income, New Zealand credit history and a business trading here. So the South Pacific claim is technically true and geographically generous.
What sits underneath it is real enough. We arrange finance for trucks and commercial fleets across the country, light through to heavy, new or used, through a dealer, privately, at auction or on import.
What we will need from you
For a business purchase we usually need your IRD number, recent GST returns or financials, and details of the truck. If you are an owner-operator without a full set of accounts, say so - several of our lenders assess on contract income and bank statements instead, and we will point your application at them rather than at the ones that will decline it.
If you are refinancing an existing truck to free up working capital, we can look at that at the same time.
Heavy trucks and fleets
Heavy vehicles are long-life assets and should be financed like it. A prime mover bought to run for a decade does not want a term built around a car loan, and matching the term to the working life of the truck usually costs less over the life of the loan than a shorter term repeatedly refinanced.
Refinancing is worth raising early rather than late. If you already own trucks outright, there is often equity sitting in them that can be released to fund the next purchase or simply to free up working capital. That is a normal arrangement rather than a distress signal, and it frequently produces a better outcome than borrowing the full amount against the new unit alone.
Trailers are a separate question. They can be financed with the unit or independently, and the right answer depends on whether the trailer stays matched to that truck or moves around the fleet. Tell us which and we will structure it accordingly.
Financing several vehicles at once is a different conversation to financing one. A growing fleet usually wants a facility it can draw against rather than a fresh application every time, and the lenders who do that well are not always the ones who write the sharpest single-truck deal. All lending is subject to lender assessment and approval.
So what do you actually finance?
Cars, utes, trucks, vans, trailers, plant and machinery, boats, motorbikes and caravans, plus unsecured personal lending. If you are not sure whether what you have in mind fits, ask - we would rather tell you no quickly than leave you wondering.
Will you tell me if you cannot help?
Yes, and early. A fast no is more useful than a slow maybe, because it lets you go and try something else while whatever you are buying is still available.
Can I buy a Southpac privately rather than from a dealer?
Yes. We settle directly with the seller and run a PPSR check first, so you are not taking on somebody else's debt along with it. Private sales are routine.
Broker or dealer finance?
Dealer finance is one lender with a target to hit. We are not.
