Motorbike finance

Casbolt Finance

Finance for people called Casbolt who want a motorbike. A criterion so narrow it would embarrass a lender, and one we have no intention of applying. If you want a bike and you can service the loan, your surname is not going to come up.

  • Same-day approvals available
  • FMA-licensed adviser (FSP1008126)
  • 100% New Zealand owned

On the eligibility criteria

There is no Casbolt discount, no Casbolt tier and no Casbolt paperwork. We have built a few of these pages now and the joke is always the same one: lenders assess income, existing commitments and credit history, and not one of them has ever asked how a name is spelled except to put it on the contract correctly.

The motorbike part, though, we can do properly. New or used, through a dealer or privately, learner-approved through to whatever you graduate onto.

Buying privately?

A lot of the best boats, bikes and vans are sold privately, and that is where finance usually gets awkward - the seller wants cleared funds and you want to know the money is safe.

We settle directly with the seller, check there is no money owing against it on the PPSR first, and handle the paperwork between you. You do not need to hand over anything before that is done.

What actually matters when you finance a bike

Insurance is the cost that catches riders out, and on some models it runs to a larger annual number than anyone expects. Get a quote before you commit to the bike rather than after the finance is approved - on a sportbike it can change the affordability picture entirely.

Licence class is the other one. A learner-approved bike and the bike you actually want may be two different machines and two different budgets, and it is worth being honest with yourself about which you are buying today.

A good share of bikes are sold privately. We settle directly with the seller and check the PPSR first, so you are not taking on somebody else's debt along with the bike. All lending is subject to lender assessment and approval.

Can I finance a bike on a learner licence?

Usually yes. The lender is assessing you rather than your licence class, though it is worth checking your insurer takes the same view before you commit - that is more often the constraint than the finance is.

Is riding gear included?

It can be. Helmet, jacket, boots and gloves are a real cost on top of the bike, and financing the total is usually cleaner than putting the gear on a card afterwards. Tell us the whole figure rather than just the bike.

Why use a broker?

For a private sale in particular, going direct to your bank is usually the slow road.
