What it actually is
Clipped Assist is not insurance, and it does not replace your comprehensive cover. It is a membership that gets a mobile technician to your home or workplace to repair minor cosmetic damage - the kind that is usually not worth claiming on insurance at all, because the excess costs more than the repair.
The reasoning is straightforward. A scuffed alloy or a small door ding often costs less to fix than a standard insurance excess, and claiming it anyway affects your no-claims bonus for a repair that barely matters. A membership sidesteps both problems: repairs are unlimited for the term, at a fixed cost per visit, and your insurance history is untouched.
What is covered, specifically
Pressure dents up to 60mm, stone chips, deep scratches on side panels up to 60mm, mirror scuffs, alloy wheel scuffs, plastic body kit scuffs up to 500mm, bumper scuffs up to 500mm, interior leather or vinyl damage up to 80mm, and general cosmetic touch-ups. Every repair carries a lifetime warranty.
Repairs are unlimited for the length of the membership, with a fixed $50 fee per callout rather than a per-repair quote. Membership runs from one to five years, and covers the vehicle for that term regardless of how many times something needs fixing.
It will not help with structural damage, mechanical faults, or anything a panel beater rather than a mobile technician would need to address - this is cosmetic repair, not a warranty on the car itself. If the damage is outside what membership covers, members still get a reduced rate on the larger repair rather than paying the standard price.
Does this replace my car insurance?
No. It sits alongside comprehensive cover rather than instead of it - Clipped Assist handles the small stuff that is not worth an insurance claim, and your policy still covers genuine accidents, theft and larger damage.
What does membership cost?
It is priced by term rather than by repair: roughly $495 for one year rising to around $1,495 for five, so the effective cost per year drops the longer you commit. We can talk you through current pricing when you finance a vehicle with us.
Can I add it when I finance a car through you?
Yes - ask us about it as part of arranging your vehicle finance, and we will talk you through what is covered and what it costs for the term you want.
What if the damage is worse than the membership covers?
You are not left without an option. Damage outside the covered categories still qualifies for a reduced rate through Clipped Assist rather than the standard repair price.
