The eligibility criteria

To qualify for Rostron Finance you must be called Rostron. There is no application form for this, no supporting documentation, and no appeals process. It is a surname or it is not.

We should admit at this point that we have never actually turned anyone away on the basis of their surname, and we are not about to start. Every lender on our panel assesses income, existing commitments and credit history, and not one of them has ever asked how a name is spelled except to put it on the contract correctly.

What we actually look at

Your income and how steadily it arrives. Your existing commitments, including the ones people forget to mention. Your credit history, which matters less than most people fear and more than some people hope. And what you are buying, because a lender assesses a three-year-old ute differently to a fifteen-year-old import.

That is the whole list. All lending is subject to lender assessment and approval, and none of that assessment involves a surname.

So whether you are a Rostron, a Rangi, a Rodriguez or none of the above, the process is identical and the button below works the same way. We did think about restricting it, but the market seemed small.
